Eze is a medieval stone village in Provence, France. The Eze village forms a circular pattern around the base of the castle, village is about 500 meters over the sea and lies between Monaco and Nice. Called the Eagle's Nest, Eze is one of the most beautiful stone villages of France. The village has only one entrance, part of a 14 century doorway.
The first thing you notice when you enter Eze is that there are rocks everywhere. Eze is a suitable place to slow down a bit, and stroll through the slender streets. Sit at one of the many small cafes or better, if you appreciate art, visit at one of the many art galleries.
Above the houses and cafes, is the White Penitents chapel and bell tower. The village has a few hotels and restaurants, since it is very popular summer tourists destination. Èze was built about 400 years ago, and was the residence of the Swedish Prince William in the past.
Èze, renowned tourist site on the

famous worldwide for the view of the sea from its hill top. Its
Jardin botanique d'Èze is known for its collection of cacti and succulents, as well as its panoramic views. The
oldest building in the village is the
Chapelle de la Sainte Croix and dates back to 1306. The shape of the bell-turret is an indication that the village once belonged to the Republic of Genoa.
The small medieval village is famous for its beauty and charm. Its many shops, art galleries, hotels and restaurants attract a large number of tourists and honeymooners. From Èze there are gorgeous views of the
Mediterranean Sea. Èze is one of thirteen villages grouped together by the Communauté d'agglomération de Nice-Côte d'Azur tourist department as the Route des Villages Perchés (Route of Perched Villages). The others are: Aspremont, Castagniers, Coaraze, Colomars, Duranus, Falicon, La Gaude, La Roquette, Levens, Saint-Blaise, Saint-Jeannet and Tourrette-Levens.

Once you are inside, you will discover a small Provencal village filled with charm and colourful window boxes, offering a panoramic view of the sea and coastline.
Small narrow roads, archways and superbly restored stone houses, shady squares, refreshing ancient fountains... you will soon be seduced by the marvels of Eze. The village is so beautiful, it's hard to believe you have not stumbled onto a movie set!
The numerous small arts and crafts boutiques are hard to resist... some of them are like tiny caves dug out of the rocky hill-side.
Visit the exotic botanic garden, situated in the village, where an impressive collection of cactus, plants and rare vegetation surrounds the remains of an ancient chateau. At an altitude of 400 m, the summit of the cliff over-looks the sea.
